Incyte Appoints Three to Executive Leadership Positions

Pablo J. Cagnoni, MD, Steven Stein, MD, and Mohammed Issa, PharmD, each continue their tenures with Incyte.

Incyte has given three company leaders new executive leadership titles, aligning with long-term growth plans and strategic focus.

Executive Leadership Shifts

Pablo J. Cagnoni, MD, is now President of Incyte, and Global Head of Research and Development. In a press release, Incyte noted the company’s R&D progress to date under Cagnoni’s scientific leadership. Cagnoni has not only strengthened how Incyte conducts R&D, but has also helped advance numerous programs.

He will continue to oversee R&D while supporting strategic planning and operational execution, having introduced new structures, policies, and technologies.

Steven Stein, MD, a decade-plus leader at Incyte, is Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, and Head of Late-Stage Development. Stein will continue to grow Incyte’s late-stage programs in hematology, oncology, and immunology, as well as global medical affairs. This last task is described by Incyte as a “critical capability” for data generation.

Finally, Mohammed Issa, PharmD, assumes the role of Executive Vice President, Head of U.S. Commercial. Issa’s continued responsibilities include Incyte’s oncology business in the United States. He also now will have an expanded part to play in U.S. immunology. Issa has extensive experience in product launches.

Other Changes at Incyte

Incyte’s oncology and immunology business units, parenthetically, are being integrated into a single U.S. operation. According to the company, this supports strategic alignment and execution for new product launches, among other benefits.

“These appointments reflect the significant contributions Pablo, Steven and Mohamed have made to Incyte,” said Incyte CEO Bill Meury. “[Also,] integrating our U.S. commercial teams into one organization will drive effective launch execution and position Incyte for long-term success.”

One departure is a component of these moving pieces at Incyte. Matteo Trotta, Executive Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Dermatology, is leaving the company after a transition period.
